Teatro – Allora Beer Label
A Toast to Legacy. A Label Worthy of the Room.
Teatro has long been one of Calgary’s most iconic fine-dining destinations. Since opening in 1993, it has offered guests more than a meal—it offers an experience. Housed in a former bank, adorned with towering pillars and antique French gates, Teatro is a space that commands presence. When the restaurant wanted to launch its own house beer, the design needed to match the legacy.
The Challenge
Teatro’s team approached us with a simple brief and a high bar: design a beer label that reflects the timeless elegance of their brand and the grandeur of the space itself. It had to feel elevated yet approachable—something that would sit comfortably on a white linen tablecloth beside a glass of Barolo or a handmade pasta.
The name of the beer, Allora—Italian for “go on”—was both a nod to Teatro’s heritage and a prompt to continue enjoying the evening. Our challenge was to bottle that moment and make it visual.
The Solution
We looked to the details that define Teatro: the intricate wrought-iron gates, the refined typography of the menu system we created in 2022, and the rich, architectural beauty of the space.
- Visual Motifs: The design features custom illustrations of Teatro’s gates—ornate and symmetrical, evoking both strength and artistry.
- Typography & Layout: The type treatment echoes Teatro’s brand language: modern, stately, and understated. The name Allora is treated with quiet confidence, set against minimal ornamentation to let the details shine.
The result is a label that doesn’t shout—it resonates. Just like the restaurant itself.
The Result
The Allora beer label is more than packaging—it’s a continuation of the Teatro experience. Guests recognize the aesthetic immediately. It feels familiar, intentional, and designed to belong. Like everything Teatro does, it sets the tone for an evening to remember.
